AP Physics 1 is a rigorous, college-level, algebra-based course designed to thoroughly prepare students for the AP exam. Through inquiry-based learning, hands-on labs, and in-depth problem-solving, students will explore key physics concepts, including kinematics, dynamics, circular motion, energy, momentum, rotational motion, simple harmonic motion, and basic electrostatics and circuits. This course emphasizes both conceptual understanding and mathematical applications while strengthening students’ analytical thinking and experimental skills.

With a focus on AP-style questions, test-taking strategies, and real-world applications, AP Physics 1 ensures students are fully prepared to succeed on the AP exam and in future STEM studies.

About the teachers:

Dr. Shao is an experienced Physics teacher and a former associate professor in college. He has taught Physics Honor, AP Physics 1&2, AP Physics C ( Mechanics and E/M), f=ma and College Physics classes. Students found their interest in Physics and gain the confidence with his help.

Dr. Shao was graduated from University of Texas , Austin with a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Before that, he was the youngest associate professor in Electrical Engineering and  taught many classes related physics, electronics and circuits. His quantum mechanic class delighted the college students. He received the best teacher awards. He has been working in a high tech company about 20 years.  He also enjoys helping the High school and college students in Physics.  He would like to share his knowledge and passion on physics with local students.
